Turn spreadsheet identifiers into clear barcode labels, ready to print.

Your spreadsheet, product data and barcodes are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to Really Simple Tools.

Map your barcodes

Map the identifier to encode. Optional text stays off until selected.

Printable ASCII only. Values are encoded exactly, including spaces. Keep leading zeros in text cells in Excel.

Optional label text

Avery 5160 · 30 labels on US Letter. Bars have a fixed width; values that cannot fit block printing. Shorten optional text if it overflows.

How it works

  1. Upload a CSV or XLSX spreadsheet with column headers.
  2. Map barcode values, choose optional text and set copies or Quantity.
  3. Review CODE 128 validation, warnings and each sheet preview.
  4. Print at actual size, then test scans before producing a batch.

A real example

Fictional row: Barcode = SKU-1042 · Product = Tomato Sauce · Price = 8.99 · Quantity = 3.

Map Barcode and Quantity, then optionally include Product and Price. You get three labels encoding exactly SKU-1042, with a readable value beneath the bars by default. Without Quantity mapping, default copies is one per row.

Choose the right identifier

CODE 128 works for internal alphanumeric identifiers such as warehouse codes and SKUs. The barcode encodes your supplied value without changing it. Leading and trailing spaces are preserved and flagged for review.

A SKU is an internal stock identifier, not automatically a UPC or another globally registered identifier. This generator draws barcode graphics; it does not issue identifiers or imply registration with GS1. V1 supports CODE 128 only.

Print bars clearly

  • Use the Avery 5160 layout: 30 labels, each 1 × 2⅝ inches, on US Letter paper.
  • Print at 100% / Actual Size. Disable Fit to Page and browser headers and footers.
  • Bars use a fixed 0.01-inch module width and 0.4-inch height, with white quiet zones on both sides. Text size affects text only.
  • Do not crop the white space, stretch barcodes or scale down the sheet. Shorten optional text if it overflows.
  • Test on plain paper and compare all rows and columns with the stock. Check alignment and scan several printed labels with your intended device before printing a large batch.

Frequently asked questions

Which barcode format is supported?

V1 generates CODE 128 for printable ASCII values such as SKU-1042, ABC123 and WH-02-991. Unicode, control characters and GS1-128 are not supported. Values too wide for the label are rejected rather than compressed.

Can I use custom spreadsheet columns?

Yes. Upload CSV or XLSX with a header row, then map any column as the barcode value. Product name, SKU, price and custom text are optional. Files are limited to 10 MB, 3,000 rows and 100 columns. You can choose a worksheet in multi-sheet workbooks.

How do I keep leading zeros?

Store identifiers as text in Excel before exporting or uploading. Numeric cells may already have lost leading zeros or precision; the tool cannot recover them. CSV text values are preserved, including spaces. Review the sample rows and human-readable values.

How do copies and validation work?

Map Quantity or use default copies per row. Whole numbers from 0 to 1,000 are accepted; zero skips the row. A mapped quantity overrides the default. Output is capped at 3,000 labels. Any invalid value, quantity or barcode width blocks the whole print job until corrected.

Does this issue product identifiers?

No. This tool generates graphics from your supplied identifiers. It does not assign globally unique commercial product identifiers, provide GS1 registration or generate UPC-A/EAN-13 symbols. An internal SKU does not automatically become a registered product identifier.

Why is printing disabled?

Check row errors, required mapping and quantities. If optional text is too long, shorten it or reduce text size. Barcode bars are never shrunk by the text-size control. If an identifier is too wide, choose a shorter identifier appropriate for your workflow.

Will every label scan?

Scanning depends on your printer, paper, device and print settings. Test several printed labels with the scanner you intend to use before printing a large batch. This tool does not guarantee scanning.

Are my spreadsheets or barcodes uploaded?

No. Parsing, encoding, preview and output run in your browser. Your file is not uploaded. Feedback does not automatically include your product data, identifiers or labels.
