REALLY SIMPLE TOOLS

Terms of Use

Last updated:

Small tools, clear responsibilities. These Terms explain how you can use RST and what to check before relying on its results.

About these Terms

These Terms govern your use of Really Simple Tools (RST), including its current and future tools. By accessing or using RST, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

If applicable law requires another form of consent for a particular service or transaction, these Terms do not replace that requirement.

About Really Simple Tools

RST is operated from Ohio, United States. We provide online utilities for calculations, planning, productivity, measurements, conversions, image and file processing, spreadsheet and data processing, document generation, comparisons, printing and other everyday and business tasks.

We may add, correct, update, change, suspend, remove or discontinue tools and features. We do not guarantee permanent availability or uninterrupted access.

International users

People around the world can use RST. If you use it from another country or region, you are responsible for following laws that apply to your use.

Laws in your country, state, province or region may give you rights these Terms cannot take away. Nothing here excludes, restricts or waives rights that cannot legally be excluded, restricted or waived.

Using RST

Use RST lawfully and safely. You are responsible for entering accurate information, reviewing outputs, deciding whether they fit your purpose, keeping backups and complying with applicable laws and relevant third-party requirements. You must have permission to process the files and content you provide.

Tools can produce errors or results that do not fit your situation. Independently check important results before relying on them.

Check important results

Calculations, estimates, measurements, comparisons, conversions, schedules, reports, generated files, printable documents and other outputs depend on your inputs and the tool’s assumptions. Simplified models, rounding, browser behavior, file formats, implementation limits and changing third-party standards can affect results.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we do not guarantee that every result is accurate, complete, current, error-free or suitable for a particular purpose.

Check results independently before important decisions involving money, debt, purchasing, accounting, business operations, inventory, measurements, construction, mounting, equipment placement, printing, barcodes, QR codes, files or data. These Terms supplement, rather than replace, the warnings and limitations shown on individual tools.

No professional advice

RST provides general information and productivity tools, not professional financial, investment, legal, tax, accounting, medical, engineering, architectural or safety advice.

A financial calculator does not make us a financial adviser. A measurement or mounting tool does not make us an engineer, contractor, installer or safety professional. An inventory or business tool does not make us an accountant or business adviser. Seek qualified professional advice when your situation requires it.

Files, images and downloads

Our tools may work with images, spreadsheets, CSV files, documents, metadata and other files, and may generate downloadable output.

We cannot guarantee that every file or format will process successfully, formatting will always be preserved, conversions will be lossless, metadata will always be detected or removable, or files will remain usable in every situation. Generated files may not work with every application or device or meet third-party requirements. Other systems may reject them.

Inspect generated and downloaded files before important use. Keep your originals; generating another version is not a reason to delete the original.

Keep backups

Keep a backup of important files before using our file tools. RST is not a backup, storage or archival service. Do not rely on it as the only location or copy of important information.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for lost or corrupted files or data resulting from use of, or inability to use, RST. This does not exclude liability that the law does not allow us to exclude.

Local processing and privacy

When a tool says it processes calculations or files locally in your browser, that describes the intended operation of that specific tool. It is not a promise that every current or future tool handles all data locally.

See our Privacy Policy for information about data handling, browser storage and services used by the site. Applicable privacy rights are not limited to those under U.S. law.

Read the Privacy Policy.

Your content

You keep whatever rights you otherwise have in the files, images, spreadsheets, text, data and other content you provide. We do not claim ownership merely because you process content with RST. We also do not claim ownership of output merely because an RST tool creates or transforms it.

You are responsible for having the rights or permission needed to process your content. We do not guarantee that output is unique, qualifies for intellectual-property protection, meets third-party requirements or cannot resemble independently created material.

Things you may not do

Do not use RST to break the law, commit or facilitate fraud, violate intellectual-property or privacy rights, or distribute malware.

Do not attack the site, interfere with normal operation, bypass security protections or reasonable rate limits, gain unauthorized access, or use abusive automation or scraping that materially disrupts the service. Normal lawful use and non-disruptive automation are not prohibited by this rule.

Our content and intellectual property

RST’s original branding, website design, software, written content, graphics and other original site materials may be protected by intellectual-property laws. Respect those rights and applicable third-party licenses.

This does not give us ownership of your files, data, entered information or output merely because our tools process it.

Third parties and future advertising

RST may link to other websites, use third-party libraries and technologies, and rely on browser and platform capabilities. We do not control third-party websites or guarantee their accuracy, availability, security, privacy practices, products, services or content. A link does not automatically mean endorsement.

We may display advertising, sponsorships, affiliate links or promotional content in the future. This does not mean those features are currently present. Third-party advertisers are responsible for their products, services and claims; displaying an advertisement does not automatically mean we endorse it. Any changes to data handling will be described in the Privacy Policy.

No guarantees

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, RST is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE.” We cannot promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, secure or error-free, produce accurate results or meet every user’s needs.

To that same extent, we disclaim express, implied and statutory warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, availability and security, where applicable.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions or limits on statutory rights. If those laws apply to you, these exclusions apply only to the extent the law allows.

Limits on our liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, RST and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages resulting from use of, or inability to use, the service.

These may include lost profits, revenue, business or opportunities, lost or corrupted files or data, and losses related to inaccurate calculations, incorrect outputs, decisions based on results, device or software incompatibility, or inability to access RST. The exclusions apply only to the types of damages and circumstances the law permits us to exclude.

Where legally permitted, our total aggregate liability arising from the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid directly to RST for the applicable service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) US $100. This limit does not apply where applicable law does not allow liability to be excluded or limited.

Rights we cannot exclude

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful. Depending on applicable law, this may include fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, certain intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury, mandatory consumer guarantees and other non-excludable rights or liabilities. This is not an exhaustive list for every jurisdiction.

If you use RST as a consumer, laws in your country, state, province or region may give you mandatory rights. Nothing here takes away rights that cannot legally be waived or limited.

If your use causes a legal claim

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you are responsible for third-party claims, losses and reasonable costs, including reasonable legal costs, caused by your unlawful use of RST, material violation of these Terms, infringement of third-party rights, or use of content you had no authority to process.

This obligation to cover those claims and costs (sometimes called indemnification) does not make you responsible for our own negligence, misconduct or violations of law, and is subject to any mandatory consumer protections.

Changes to RST or these Terms

We may update, modify, add, remove, suspend or discontinue tools or features. We may also update these Terms and will show the latest update date on this page.

Changes do not retroactively alter accrued contractual rights. We will respect legally required notice and consent. Continued use after updated Terms become effective means acceptance only where applicable law permits it.

Governing law and disputes

To the extent legally permitted, these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio and applicable federal laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory laws in your jurisdiction apply and cannot legally be excluded.

This choice does not take away mandatory consumer protections elsewhere. Applicable law may give you access to courts or remedies in your own jurisdiction. These Terms do not require arbitration, waive class actions or jury trials, or require every dispute to be brought only in Ohio.

Other terms and contact

If a provision is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective to the extent permitted by law. Where appropriate and legally permitted, a provision will be limited only as much as necessary to make it enforceable.

If we do not enforce a provision immediately, that does not automatically mean we permanently give up the right to enforce it.

These Terms, the Privacy Policy and applicable tool-specific notices form the agreement concerning use of RST, without overriding rights that cannot legally be waived.

The primary Terms are written in English. Any future translations may be provided for convenience, subject to applicable legal requirements; English does not override another language where the law prohibits that.

For questions about RST or these Terms, use the “Request a tool” feedback form in the footer and explain your question. An email address is optional; provide one if you want us to be able to reply. Do not include sensitive information.
