Square CSV to Shopify CSV Converter

Turn your Square item export into a Shopify product CSV, with a clear review before download.

Files are processed in your browser. Product data and converted CSVs are not uploaded or saved by this tool.

CSV · up to 10 MB / 10,000 item rows · English column headers

How it works

  1. Export your Square Item Library as CSV and select it here.
  2. Review the price column, variation option name and import status.
  3. Fix errors in the source; check warnings and the converted preview.
  4. Download the CSV, then test a small import in Shopify.

What gets converted

Item names become product titles and unique URL handles. Descriptions and SKUs are preserved. Your selected price column supplies prices, and simple variation names become one Shopify option. Other populated fields are reported as excluded, not silently migrated.

A real example

Fictional Square rows: Canvas Tote, variations Small and Large, SKUs TOTE-S and TOTE-L, prices 12.50 and 16.00.

Both Shopify rows use handle canvas-tote. Set the option name to Size to retain Small and Large as its values. Prices and SKUs stay with their respective variants.

Check before importing

  • Keep a copy of your original export. Do not let a spreadsheet remove SKU leading zeros or convert them to scientific notation.
  • Confirm your selected prices use your Shopify store’s currency. Location-specific prices are not combined.
  • Review grouped item names, duplicate SKUs and generated handle suffixes.
  • Set up inventory, shipping, taxes and excluded fields separately. The CSV only covers supported catalog fields.
  • Import a small batch through Shopify’s product import first. Avoid the overwrite option: matching handles can replace existing product data.

Format and import references

Verified October 3, 2026 against Square’s Item Library documentation and Shopify’s current product CSV specification. CSV formats can change; review Shopify’s import preview before committing an import.

Frequently asked questions

Which Square export does this support?

Use Export Library → CSV from Square Item Library with English Item Name, Variation Name, Description and SKU headers. Sales reports, XLSX files and other layouts are not supported. Limits are 10 MB, 10,000 item rows and 100 columns.

How are variations handled?

Rows sharing an exact Item Name are grouped as one product. Each Variation Name is kept intact as one Shopify option value. You can name that option. The tool does not guess size/color splits. Explicit populated option-set columns, conflicting descriptions or ambiguous variation names block downloading.

Are inventory and images migrated?

No. Inventory, images, barcodes, Square tokens, tax rules, modifiers and channel settings are excluded. Populated unconverted columns are listed so you can review what needs separate setup in Shopify.

Why does a blank price block download?

Shopify can import a blank price as zero. This tool requires a numeric price so it cannot silently create free products. Variable prices and currency symbols must be resolved in your source file. Prices are not converted between currencies.

Will the products be published immediately?

The default is Draft and not published. You can explicitly choose Active and published online before download. This is an import choice; Square visibility is not copied.

Is my catalog uploaded or saved?

No. Parsing, conversion, preview and download happen in your browser. Reloading or closing the tab clears the session. Feedback never automatically includes your CSV or product data.
